Shrimp farming in Mexico has positioned our country as the seventh producer worldwide. Thanks to their flavor they can be prepared with different ingredients and, although Sinaloa is the main producer, Veracruz is not far behind, especially if they are served at the table with this garlic mojo recipe.

  • Frying pan and saucepan
  • Wooden shovel

How to prepare shrimp with garlic mojo?

Ingredients

for the shrimp

  • 1 kilogram of shrimp
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 garlic
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • Olive oil
  • Mayonnaise
  • Lemons

For the garden rice

  • 2 cups of white rice
  • 2 potatoes in cubes
  • 3 ½ water
  • 2 diced carrots
  • 1 cup of peas
  • ½ cup of milk
  • 2 garlic
  • 1 cube of chicken broth
  • 2 teaspoons of butter
  • Oil
  • ½ lemon
  • Salt
  • 1 teaspoon of saffron

Step by step to prepare shrimp with garlic mojo

For the Shrimp

Step 1

Crush two cloves of garlic and integrate them with salt, pepper, oil, and vinegar. 

Step 2

Wash and devein the shrimp, rinse them to remove any remaining dirt, and drain. 

Step 3

Marinate them with the previous mixture for two hours. 

Step 4

Finely chop a clove of garlic and fry over medium-low heat.

Step 5

Add the shrimp in parts and cook until tan.

Garden rice

Step 1

Sauté the rice with onion and garlic, add butter and let it melt.

Step 2

Add the water and milk. 

Step 3

And then the potato, carrot, and peas along with the chicken broth.

Step 4

Add the lemon juice, and saffron and season with salt to taste. 

Step 5

Let cook for 20 minutes mixing the ingredients with a shovel so they don’t stick together. 

Putting together

Step 1

 Serve the shrimp on a plate accompanied by garden rice, mayonnaise, and lemon.

Buy fresh shrimp with the head attached to the rest of the body and the black intestinal vein and tail removed. If they are frozen remove all the water. Also, cook over medium-low heat so that the garlic mojo is not too liquid.
