This recipe is a traditional dish in Chinese-American cuisine; It consists of battered and fried chicken strips served with sweet and sour sauce. It is usually accompanied with pineapple, cherry, and green pepper, although depending on the area where it is prepared it is also served with pork.

Ingredients

To stew sweet and sour chicken you need the following:

  • 1 breast boiled and cut into cubes
  • 3 boiled carrots in sticks
  • boiled broccoli
  • ½ onion
  • 1 finely chopped garlic
  • Cooked rice

For the sweet and sour sauce

  • 200 milliliters of chicken broth
  • 20 grams of sugar
  • 20 grams of honey
  • 15 grams of cornstarch
  • 50 milliliters of orange juice
  • juice of 2 lemons
  • 15 milliliters of soy sauce
  • 60 grams of tomato sauce
  • 30 milliliters of apple cider vinegar
  • 125 milliliters of pineapple juice
  • 1 orange sliced
  • 5 pineapple slices

Step by step to prepare and cook sweet and sour chicken

Step 1

Dissolve the cornstarch in the chicken broth until there are no lumps. 

Step 2

Add the rest of the ingredients and incorporate well. 

Step 3

Tan the pineapple and orange in a pan.

For the chicken

Step 1

Fry the chicken pieces for 8 minutes. Reserve. 

Step 2

In the same pot fry onion and garlic. Add the chicken pieces and cook until needed. Reserve.

Step 3

Heat the sweet and sour sauce in a pan for 7 minutes. 

Step 4

Add the chicken and vegetables. Cook for 3 more minutes.

Step 5

Serve and accompany with rice.

Coat the chicken in an orly batter before frying. Just mix 200 milliliters of water, 200 grams of flour, 1 splash of olive oil, and 16 grams of baking powder.

Remember to remove the skin from the chicken so as not to exceed the consumption of fat.
