The Spring roll recipe are one of the best-known side dishes in Chinese cuisine; They can be prepared with meat or vegetables.

With meat or with vegetables? This way you can prepare spring rolls, one of the favorite side dishes of Chinese cuisine. Also known as chun kun or lúmpia, they are part of the Chinese New Year celebrations.

In western areas it is compared to the egg roll, but they are not the same. This one is made with wheat flour dough, while the spring ones are made with rice flour. In either of its two versions, it can have Chinese cabbage, bean sprouts, carrots, mushrooms or cellophane noodles.

Easy and simple spring roll recipe

Ingredients

To cook the spring rolls, you need the following

  • Wonton sheets
  • 250 grams of ground meat
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1/2 onion finely chopped
  • 100 grams of raw peas
  • 100 grams of corn
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 2 diced potatoes
  • Sunflower oil
  • Sesame oil
  • soy sauce
  • 1 egg

Step by step to prepare and cook spring rolls

Step 1

Heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the garlic and chopped onion. Add the carrots, peas, corn, and potatoes. 

Step 2

In another pan, cook the ground beef with soy sauce and sesame oil. Mix all ingredients.

Step 3

Put a little filling in one corner of the wonton sheet and close. Brush the edges with a beaten egg.

Step 4

Heat the sunflower oil and fry the rolls until golden brown. 

Step 5

Remove excess fat with absorbent towels.

Step 6

Serve and accompany with soy sauce or sweet and sour sauce.

Gastronomic tip of the spring rolls

Substitute the wonton sheets for flour tortillas, although the flavor and consistency will be different. You can also use pure vegetables or shrimp as a filling.
